Cannabis is our friend
No other genus of plant has been so glorified and vilified at the same time. But our relationship with Cannabis is complicated, and long. A team led by archaeologists Yang Yimin and Ren Meng of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing reports clear physical evidence that mourners burned cannabis for its intoxicating fumes on a remote mountain plateau in Central Asia some 2500 years ago.
It’s an exciting time for Cannabis. It is emerging from the dark and incrementally being legalized or decriminalized around the world. This movement is shattering decades of ignorance and senseless misinformation campaigns, and slowly dissipating the potent stigma cast upon marijuana use.
